Protection Manager is a security enment application administered from a central console. A driver installed on the client intercepts applications as they are attempting to launch and allows or denies the attempt according to rules set by an Administrator via the Protection Manager console. The Administrator can delegate to others the authority to grant or deny, in real-time, requests for unknown applications for Roles they manage.

Winternals’ Protection Manager gives an enterprise the ability to secure its Windows infrastructure by creating a least privilege environment in which users have only the privileges needed to do their jobs efficiently. Users are authorized or prohibited from running an application based on one of four security levels: Allow, Run with Administrative Privileges, Run as Limited User, or Deny.

NOTE: You do need ActiveDirectory on both of console and client sides to run this software.
